Status pertains to the Refuge only
A - Abundant - may be recorded in double figures at the peak of its flight
C - Common - usually seen during its flight period, 3-10 individuals
F - Fairly common - usually seen during its flight period, in low numbers
U - Uncommon - likely present at appropriate times, but may not be seen.
L - Limited number of records - may be scarce or not enough data yet to indicate otherwise.
R - Rare - likely its true status here, rather than an artifact of limited sampling.
G - Recorded at other Gateway units (Floyd Bennet Field, Fort Tilden), but not yet at the Refuge.

Methods in which species have been found
B - Bait
D - Day - encountered during the day. Species may be diurnal or nocturnal ones kicked up in fields.
F- Flowers - FD indicates found nectaring during the day, otherwise at night.
L - Lights - includes daytime finds of individuals attracted by lights the previous night.
R - Roosting - found during the day inactive on trees, blinds, flowers. excludes individuals attracted by lights.
Boldfacing indicates the method accounts for significantly more records than others.
