Black Vulture
Coragyps atratus

A bird of the southeast United States, it has recently expanded its range through Pennsylvania and New Jersey into southeastern New York and Connecticut. Recorded at hawk watches throughout its range, but its wide ranging habits and the presence of wintering birds at the northern limits of its range confuses its migratory status. It is, however, recorded far from resident populations and has strayed to Massachusetts and the Great Lakes region.
