Dates: 5-10th November 2019
Location: Fort Collins Hilton, Fort Collins, CO, USA
The Rocky Mountain Raptor Program would like to invite you to Fort Collins, Colorado for the 2019 Raptor Research Foundation Annual Conference. This year’s conference will be hosted by Rocky Mountain Raptor Program and EDM International at the Hilton Fort Collins. Nestled at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, scenic Fort Collins is the home to Colorado State University and the historic downtown district called “Old Town”, which served as the model for Main Street in Disneyland. Our community offers a bevy of beauty, activity and wonderful raptor habitat. Being at the edge of both mountains and plains, Fort Collins and surrounding area offers a wide variety of habitats which attracts a wide variety of raptors. Colorado is home to 2 species of eagle, 1 species of vulture, 4 species of buteo, 3 species of accipiter, 4 species of falcon, 1 species of harrier, 1 species of osprey, 1 species of kite, 13 species of owls. The local community has worked hard to maintain open spaces and habitats so that many raptors can be seen within town.
This year’s RRF Conference will offer workshops, symposia and poster displays on topics of current research, raptor biology, ecology, research techniques, conservation, and management for improving research techniques including raptor identification, safety, and handling skills, and transmitter harnessing with additional topics still being developed. Field trips will highlight the beauty, diversity, and science in northern Colorado including Rocky Mountain National Park, the USFWS Eagle Repository, and Pawnee National Grasslands to name just a few.
