It’s amazing that 14 months have gone by since HMANA first announced the Counting for Raptor Conservation Campaign in November 2013. This month marks the halfway point of this ambitious initiative and the HMANA board is pleased to announce we are more than halfway to our funding goal of $135,000!!

In total HMANA’s members, friends, supporters and board have substantially exceeded the first and second year 1:1 match amounts of $15,000 per year, bringing the total amount of funds dedicated to hiring a permanent executive director to $68,000!!!

This is exciting news!  Just like at halftime of a sporting event, it’s fun to watch the band, however the whole second half is ahead! What a great opportunity to meet and exceed our overall goal!

The HMANA board is finalizing the executive director’s job description, outlining goals and expectations for his or her first year of employment, and planning for a job announcement posting.

Our campaign and hiring timeline coincides as closely as possible with the construction progress  on the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center(where HMANA’s new office will be located).  You can see more about the visitor center by following these links:

The planned timeframe for opening this new visitor center in Michigan is fall 2015!!!

Thanks to all who have sent in and increased their pledge amount for Year Two! If you have not renewed your pledge yet – please do so today!

Forty seven new supporters joined our effort since June of 2014 bringing the total number of supporters for this initiative to more than 150 donors!

The final year of our campaign will begin on June 1, 2015. Our goal is to continue increasing the number of supporters, and to let all of you know that your continued philanthropic support is needed to ensure we cross the finish line! This will allow us to occupy our donated office space and permanent new home with a new executive director in place as HMANA moves into a very bright future for our organization!
