Application for the 2024 Learning Community for Michigan Raptor Migration Teaching Network

Are you a K-12 teacher or in/non-formal educator interested in creating place and project-based lessons and learning in community about hawks, migration and outdoor education? Please consider applying to join the Michigan Raptor Migration Teaching Network’s 2024-25 Learning Community!

The Michigan Raptor Migration Teaching Network (MRMTN) seeks to bring K-12 educators together to share the joys and wonders of raptor migration as we build understanding of this fascinating phenomena. MRMTN provides professional learning experiences for teachers, curates and creates materials for K-12 students related to understanding and experiencing the migration patterns of birds of prey, including large hawks, owls and eagles, along Michigan’s shorelines.

K-12 teachers and educators are encouraged to consider applying to join a Learning Community to develop lessons, activities and experiences for K-12 students related to raptor migration in Michigan. Successful applicants will be able to participate in two weekend expeditions to experience hawkwatching across Michigan, have capacity to work collaboratively during summer 2024 to develop learning materials for K-12 students and the ability to try out the materials with students during the 2024-25 school year. No bird watching experience is necessary!
